This has been a year of updating and replacing in our home. It began last summer, when we ripped up the floor in the kitchen and spent three days laying tile. I never understood why someone charged SO MUCH to lay tile….until I received a quick training from my handy man husband in the process! OK…floor is finished (almost…we still have one area we have to finish….between the kitchen and the family room…but, it’s done for the most part!).
Next, well, we had to replace our roof….thanks to hail storms, we received some help from insurance…ok, new roof: Done.
Just as we were taking a breather around Christmas….gifts purchased, wrapped and under the tree….easy since we really celebrated Christ this year and limited the amount of gifts we purchased…..the computer blew up…the lap top, that is. OK…well, then our other computer blew up. SO….ok, we needed a computer and found our Dell Studio One…I love it….
Next up….the day before Christmas, our dishwasher decided to start it’s final round of giving us dirty dishes. It no longer even attempted to wash them…it began giving dishes back to us that were dirtier than when we put them in there (OK, GROSS!). The Dryer decided to join in the madness…and went from taking two tries to dry…to, well, not drying. So, the day after Christmas….we purchased a new dryer and dishwasher.
So…that has to be it, right? NO! Just as Spring began to show her beautiful warm face…our heater broke. We put off buying one for two weeks….and guess what, the temps fell and we spent three COLD days at home. NO biggy…..until I almost caught the house on fire when the trash can caught fire from me cleaning out the fire place (glad my hubby came home that night when he did)! So….new heater.
Well, all of those (except for the flooring) were definitely not planned for….and had to be taken care of. So….about two months ago, my husband saw me longingly looking at a wall under our stairs. I knew there was hidden space there….just begging to be made into a closet. So, he gave our sons and daughter a hammer….and they tore the wall down! After many weekends of working 1-2 hours here and there…it is finished! I am attaching a picture…it doesn’t do it justice and definitely doesn’t show the sweat my husband poured into this project for me…..just one of the many ways he serves our family….along the way, he taught our oldest a few things about electrical work, hanging dry wall…and painting. (Oh, but did I mention, the flooring isn’t in yet…so, it’s finished, ok, ALMOST…we’ll get to it in a few months!)Please note, this post contains affiliate links. See disclosure for full information
