This week at The HomeSchool Village, we are all gathering together with our children to talk about books they enjoy and possibly post our reading list. My reading list comes directly from Sonlight. They have great books. BUT, I have to admit, another site has some amazing living books based on grade: Ambelside. We do have one other reading list…..we walk in the library and the children pick three books that they want to read. This is their favorite reading list….the library is one of their favorite places to go!
Moving on to my children’s favorite books: I could not just ask one of my children. I had to ask all three. I started with my oldest son (who will be 9 next week), following him is my 7 yr old daughter and then, my crazy 4 yr old son…who truly keeps our house loud and full of laugher!
“Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief: is a book about a boy who learns he is a demi-God. His father was Poseidon…and Zeuss thinks Percy stole the lightning. Percy learns that his Mom loved him so much she lived a life close to slavery to his Step Father to help conceal who he was and Percy discovers the truth about himself and the world he lives in.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it inspired my mind. It was full of adventure and fun. All of the details make you feel like you are part of the book. It has inspired me to build more with my Lego’s. It’s just pretty much awesome! I can’t explain it more than that….you just have to read it to understand it.” by Josh B.
“Mrs. Piggle Wiggle is a fun book about children and their manners and behavior. Mrs. Piggle Wiggle tells their Moms about some very unique ways of curing their children’s illnesses. This was a lot of fun and I really liked the radish cure. I have always enjoyed taking a bath. But, now I really understand why my Mom tells me to use soap and wash behind my ears! You have to read this…either by yourself or with your Mom/Dad reading it to you. They’ll fall over laughing…my Mom did!” by Jessica B
“The Pout Pout Fish is my favoritest book because I’m a Pout Pout Fish with a Pout Pout Face and I spread Dreary Wearies all over the place! It’s funny!!” by: Joseph B.
The Bible is the overall favorite for everyone in our house. The history, drama, love and ultimate sacrifice truly get into your heart and soul when you take time to sit down as a family, read it together and allow the Spirit to take over!
Head over to The Homeschool Village and tell us about your children’s favorite books!
