Planting Mustard Seeds: Christmas in July

  Mustard Seeds

For the past two years, we have been reading a book called:  Window on the World.  It is an amazing book filled with information about people across the world, how they live and their various religious beliefs.

My children and I have cried over many situations in the book, we have prayed and we have come closer to God through the stories, especially as we have studied other belief systems.

Through this, our compassion for helping others has grown. Each week, my children identify a new country they really want to visit.  While we are not able to actually visit in a physical sense, we have found ways we can help.

Last September, I wrote this post about Santa….and have recently had it brought back to my mind.  Why?  Because we received another sweet letter from our child in India (that we sponsor).  We may never meet her, but we are helping make a difference in her life.  We are helping others, too.

Through Gospel For Asia, we purchased chickens, bunnies and a few other items to help families begin their own businesses.  Gospel For Asia has so many ways you can help….Sponsor a Child, Sponsor a Missionary or do like we did…and help purchase livestock or other items to help a family meet their financial needs through a business venture.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world:  James 1:27

I enjoy spending time Planting Mustard Seeds each week with everyone who links up or leaves a comment.  Jennifer Janes and I began this link…as a way to encourage others.  We pray this is a blessing to you……and helps you stay focused on what is truly important…our Lord and Savior!  Looking for more words of encouragement….you will find them at A Holy Experience, Women Living Well and iFellowship

  1. I LOVE Christmas in July! Our Compassion child’s birthday is coming up, so I’ve got one more child’s birthday to celebrate this summer!

    • CIA has a great program, too. Have you looked into GFA? It’s great knowing we’re helping someone else, isn’t it! Sending you big hugs this am!

  2. They also have free books (one of the things I love about them because learning about how to help and how God works to change lives should not cost money!) What a blessing you and your family are!

    • Amanda, your words are sweet. I wish we could do more…but, bad choices…keep us doing very little. I do love GFA…they truly are focused on feeding the soul and the body. Thank you for blessing us!

  3. Window on the World is one of my favorite resources. We purchased it over 5 years ago and keep returning to it. Our sponsored little girl through World Vision is from Lebanon.

    • Jennifer, I do love that book. I purchased it with some curriculum….but, have decided not to sell it even though we are not using the curriculum anymore. I love the way it keeps things simple…yet the stories in it….are so heart touching!!!! Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.
