I love those moments…when a child asks if they can have something (and you are not quite sure what they want to do with it), especially when you have just read about The Armor of God
and I step out of my worry about a ‘mess’ and respond with a “YES”
Because childhood should be a time of creativity
and for boys
To hide behind
And, of course to hide your weapons behind…
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God Ephesians 6:13-17 (source)
After we read this scripture my little guy made this by:
- poking holes in the carton with a pin
- cutting his yarn with his own scissors
- pulling the yarn through the holes as a way to
- Hold His shield
- Secure His weapons….
Now, he is ready to prepare the rest of his armor!
That’s one thing we made this week What did you make?
