  First Week of School

In my life and our homeschool this week…

While we have been ‘schooling’ a little all summer, and have several days logged for this ‘next school year’….this week was our first, full on hitting it hard week…..

It was fun…and challenging.  It’s interesting having a little one just REALLY starting and two older ones…  Maintaining their individual learning styles, gifts, talents and helping grow their weak areas…but, remembering they are each individuals but tied to a family unit…that makes it interesting.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Turn off your phone/computer…or leave them in another room.  If you want your children’s undivided attention, you need to give them your TIME and TRUTH

I am inspired by…

My children and my husband….

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Oh, I may actually make it out for a Hello Mornings Meet Up…..I’m so excited, but trying not to be in case it doesn’t happen….

My favorite thing this week was…

Playing new board games with my children.  I did not grow up playing them with my family…..with one brother (who is older) and  a Mom who worked several jobs…no one was around.

We have some new games….that everyone can play and it’s just been fun!

I’m grateful for…

Friends who love me, encourage me and hold me accountable…and desire the same type of friendship!

I’m praying for…

Our nation….so many things are going on…so many are walking around unaware….so, I’m praying…for our nation!

Have you started back to school?

  1. When I saw that you were doing your first week back I thought – what? already? where is the time going? So I popped over to have a peek at your post. :o)

Loved your tips/advice for this week.

  2. Turning off my phone and computer is something I need to do more often, thanks for the reminder. As homeschool moms it seems like we’re always multitasking, but if we want the kids to focus we need to, too!

  3. We are not starting back till August. I just couldn’t get it together before then. I love your tip on leaving the phone and computer in the other room. I think I will be turning my ringer off some too.
    Blessings!

  4. Yay! What are your new games? We’re just wrapping up summer schooling and taking August off. Have a great start to the year!!

  5. Looks like a great first week back! Sure – there’s always things to tweak and stuff to juggle, but it sounds like you’re off to a good start! Love the photos! Never heard of Scrabble Scoop! Is it fun? We’re not starting back until September 4th. We like to enjoy Maine’s limited warm weather months as long as we can! LOL I’m guilty about the computer! I need to focus on getting it turned off or shut down…or at the very lease ONLY available for the kid’s on-line studies during school time! Very important! Stopping by from the Homeschool Mother’s Journal!

  6. This was our first week back too! Love your post and hope you guys have a great weekend!!

  7. Happy first week back to school! Looks like you are off to a great start. Have a blessed year!

  8. This was our second week back after a 2 week break, and they were sick last week. Love your advice, so true.

  9. Love it. We are starting back this Monday!

  10. We’re starting back in August, but I am ready. Probably more ready than my kids. I also have a variety of ages and stages to work with. It is challenging but fun. :-)
