Homeschool

In my life this week…

It was a busy, busy week.  While we had school every day, we only had one day without interruptions.

But, it was a beautiful week…and it ended with a birthday for the big guy and a celebration that he was not expecting – he casts came off! Woot!  I don’t know who is more excited….I think I am, but I  think perhaps, he may argue that point with me.  While we no longer have parties, our children get to pick special activities for the day or weekend….and while he enjoyed his birthday this week, right now, he is off with his daddy…which is a treat after Daddy’s very long hours this week!

We began our  Young Scholar’s Guide to Composers from Bright Ideas Press this week.  However, I was ill-prepared and am spending this morning accomplishing what I should have done last week.  But, I’m thankful for mercy and grace…and am busy prepping and pulling together what I need….keep an eye out, I’ll share how I’m preparing so you can perhaps not make the same mistakes I have made!

While I was hoping to add WonderMaps by Bright Ideas Press this week, my computer seems to be fighting with me….and I’m working through some bug issues (on my end)….but, I am so incredibly excited about adding it.   I can tell (through what my computer is letting me do) this is going to add an entrely new dimension to our learning!

We did end our week spending a few hours over lunch with a friend cleaning our church.  There is nothing I love more than serving with my children.  It is thrilling to me…that they love cleaning toilets.  I wonder when that will rub off?

Reading Horizons Online

You Don’t want to Miss This

My review and Giveaway for Reading Horizons posted this week.  Make sure you enter – one thing I did not know would happen this week…my big guy, the one who is not struggling with his reading asked if he could start using it.  He has noticed the improvement in his little sister’s reading comprehension and spelling and he is determined to move forward in those areas, too!

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We have plans over the next few months…..we were just talking about how our easy-laid back life will be a tad bit busy with traveling this year…I’m excited about it, but I admit,I am a home-body. I love my pillows, my bed…and just the comfort of my home.  BUT, I am thrilled about the fact I will finally get to meet some amazing people I have met over the past two years.

Things I’m working on…

Moving forward with organizing some of our homeschool projects for this year and finally sitting down to complete our summary of last year!

I’m praying for…

Many friends who are very sick and Isaac as he travels into the warm waters of the gulf.

 I’m Reading…

I’ finished Full Time Parenting and I am still reading through 7 Tools for Cultivating Your Child’s Potential.  Both are FANTASTIC!  I am sitting here looking at Teach Them Diligently: How to Use the Scriptures in Child Training…..can’t wait to dig into it!

How was your week?

  1. It sounds like a wonderful week! :-) I find the more I read, the more you and I have in common. Although I do like to travel and see new things, I find that I truly am a homebody, as well, enjoying my own bed and my own pillow. :-) I told my husband that someday, it would be awesome if we could afford an RV– then at least we could truly homeschool on the go and I could take my “home comforts” with me, lol! :-) If your travels take you anywhere near PA, please let me know! I’d love to get to meet you and give you a VIP tour of Philadelphia. I am going to check out your review and giveaway. It sounds like something that would be very helpful here. :-) Hope you have a great weekend, friend!
