My mind is already swirling with my assumed failures, lack of triumph over the tongue, wondering if I gave more praise than reproof, did I pour more scripture than my own ‘wisdom’ (or lack of).
The day ahead is already looming, the ironing (a simple way to Love Ironing) hangs waiting for my time, staring at me, along with meals to be cooked, lessons to be graded, schedules and school work that needs to be moved to a different day, meetings with friends, verses to be memorized, the list goes on…
It seems this world is in a never-ceasing cycle of hurry up, hurry up, hurry up.My own little guy, has taken notice of this. His sweet little legs always racing to keep up with the rest of us – we often forget to slow down and walk at his pace.. As we raced through the airport to find Grandma he said “It seems like we’re always rushing…” Those words hit deep to this Mom who has spent the last year pushing to be intentional with not racing these children into their adult lives before the Father can capture their hearts.
And my mind races back to the hurry and worry that can steal the beauty of pursuing peace. That peace I always thought would just magically appear. As I sought it, desired it-what I found…was the promise of a life filled with peace, when I pursue it.
At the end of the day, when the body is tired, the mind is spent and arms desire nothing more than to hold or be held, this Mama still has to pursue peace.
Pursue peace through a night-time routine. It’s the foundation for the next day. Yes, sweet one, even at the end of the day, the peace we seek must be pursued.
My heart is to help you find it. To help each and every home know that there is a way of life that is simple and full and peaceful.
