Hi Sweet Mama,
Please note, my heart goes out to all impacted by the devestation in Boston. I would like to have waited to share this, but it is linked with my monthly post on Homeschool Mosaics and want to help all Moms find beauty in all things. Losing and hurting are awful – I witnessed my own parents bury my oldest brother and lost my mother a few years ago. With that, I want to encourage you and share the beauty and blessings of being a mother.
Are you ready for Mother’s Day this year? It’s a day that is so beautiful, so full of joy and beauty. But, it is still a day where we need to be a Mom. Our husbands still need us to be his help meet, our children still need our love and discipleship and more than likely something will go wrong.
When I was a new Mom, it always seemed that Mother’s Day was not what I expected it to be. I still had diapers, laundry, food, all of those day to day activities that a Mom takes care of for the family never disappeared – for some odd reason I thought they should.
Yes, in realizing that my expectations were never met, I began changing my expectations and desires for Mother’s day – as well as my Birthday. Those are the two days of the year that I thought perhaps I could kick my feet up, sit back and just be pampered.
Do you feel that way? Do you have that opportunity to be pampered? Oh, I wish we all did, if you do. Please don’t get me wrong, my family does special things for me, but I’m still a Mom and little hearts still need discipline and guidance. It’s so important for a Mom to be a Mom, to stand up and be the Mom she is created to be.
I’m learning to do that more every day. I pray all Moms are. I wish we could just sit here with a hot cup of tea or coffee and talk about the many expectations we have and just love on one another as Moms. It’s easy to forget that we need time with our sisters in Christ – to sit down and just chat.
Lately, I’ve been taking more time to do that. Sitting and just spending time with a friend – not rushing or worrying about work around the house that isn’t getting done or even being somewhere. I recently sat in an airport with a friend and we both laughed as we realized we could sit there for hours, but must get on separate trains right at that moment in order to not miss our planes home. It was wonderful just sitting. Even in the midst of a busy airport, we were able to become lost in a wonderful conversation – encouraging one another and just sharing life.
I pray you take time to do that. And I want to give you a special gift this year. Last year, I gave you a devotional. This year, I want to give you a little packet to print. Something to give your family – to make for your. Your littles will need help and it’s nothing ‘big’, but the memories will be big in a few years.
My prayers are with you – peace be with you….you are loved Mama!
