When we started homeschooling I did not realize how much I would need prayer. I didn’t realize I didn’t just need to pray, but I needed others to pray with and for me.
As the years have passed, I have found more and more need to sit and pray alone and with others. I need it to remind me to give thanks, to lift all of my cares and to lay everything down for one purpose.
That one purpose really is not the purpose the world tells us is most important in educating our children. The world says “they need an education to get a job.” And I am not denying that isn’t important. Jobs, work, it’s important for the human heart. God created work – even before sin entered the world, but that isn’t the point of education.
Education is much more than an ends to a mean for a job. It’s the heart of who we are as we desire to grow closer to the Lord.
But, how can a Mom focus on that? How can a homeschool Mom (and Dad) possibly focus on something much greater than the need of an education for a ‘job?’
Prayer.
And that is the reason I pulled out the Prayer Journal (in the form of an eBook to download) I wrote a few years ago, added some new pages for your children to print and had a fantastic woman help upgrade the graphics.
This new school year, it’s time to focus on what’s most important. It’s time to give the Lord the rule over your school and your children’s hearts. It’s time to lay down your angst and frustration and enjoy the peace and beauty that can come when you focus on an education that with honor and glorify the Lord.
An education only focused on the ‘job’ at the end of the journey isn’t one that I want to have in my home. And yes, I fall into that thought process almost every single day. That thought that brings fear to this Mama’s heart that says “If you don’t do this right, they’ll never get a job and not only will you fail, but you’ll ruin their lives…” (Am I the only one who has to fight that thought??)
So, let’ do this together. Let’s start new. Let’s start with God’s word. Let’s start in Prayer.

You can find it here, in the Mom’s Mustard Seeds Store.
