I have spent the year needing prayer. Well, I have spent my entire life needing prayer. Until last year, I truly did not begin to grasp or fully understand prayer. While I feel that I am learning and growing my prayer life, I know that I still have a long way to go. Some days, it’s easier to pray than others. Every day…it’s easier to pray for someone else than it is to pray for ‘me’. Yet, God keeps calling me to him in amazing ways.
A few weeks ago, I received this book: Nehemiah a Heart That Can Break, by Kelly Minter. It is part of her “Living Room Series.” Have you heard of it yet? Oh, I have to tell you-it is amazing.
Nehemiah a Heart That Can Break is a great Bible study that gives you the opportunity to dig deep into the book of Nehemiah. Kelly begins this Bible Study by taking you back in time and helping you understand the landscape, culture, events of the time, etc. She paints the picture using scripture that you read…to really understand what Nehemiah was going through and how God used him.
The book can be used alone or in a group setting (I am using mine alone). It has 7 sessions, each one can begin with a video…I do not have the video, but still feel I am getting a LOT out of the book! Each session is broken down into 5 days of ‘study work’. So if you are studying with a group of other women, you work for 5 days, take one off and use the 7th to come together in discussion and prepare for the following week.
Now,I have to tell you Kelly did not just write a book that will feed your sou-she also wrote one that will help feed your family’s little tummies! How? She has done something I did not expect. She has thrown in some FABULOUS recipes!!!!
What are you going to learn in this book? Well, you’re going to learn quickly-how important prayer is and how God can and will use anyone: especially those with broken hearts to reach out and help others. This book will help you become the hands of Christ-working with others to reach out in your own special way to help others learn about the love of Christ.
Simply stated, this book will rock your world. So, I only recommend purchasing it if you are truly ready to find what it is that God has in store for you! Me, every day that I pick up this book I am frightened, yet excited. It grows me, stretches me, and helps heal this broken heart as I learn about others I need to be doing more for!
I have a little announcement (well, you already know). I am giving a copy away! When I received the book, I received two and instead of letting it just sit or handing it to someone who may or may not read it, I thought I would give it away to one of you!
